Ty week special!

This week is a homage to one of Musical Artists Ty Chijioke
He's been in the public eye so much these past few months and we're so proud of all he's doin, but somehow there are still peeps out there who aint in touch wit his vibe????
So this is our way to make sure the whole world knows his style!

Ty has been on the scene for well over a decade, working with the true Guru's of HipHop, such as De La Soul, Arrested Development and even performed alongside Black Twang.

He doesn't just specialise in HipHop, Scratch Perverts and Basement Jaxx have all had a piece of him. So I bet there's at least one song in his repertoire that you'll know.

And in 2010 he's come back hard with a new Album titled '
Special Kind of Fool'. This time he's been collaborating with a real mix of up and coming Artists such as Roses Gabor - grime singer famous for recent collaborations 'Stupid' by Redlight and 'Dont let go' by the infamous J2K. Plus many more, I'll leave it up to you to do some self discovery....

So, his recent single is called 'Emotions' and its beautiful....when I first heard it, my heart tingled with happiness. Its a tribute to all things old skool, emphasising the sad decline of Soul in modern HipHop, where nowadays Rappers just bitch about gang rivals and how much dollar they got. Ty is asking the world to get in touch with themselves, get that community spirit and actually interact with your fellow man. Forget the front and be true to yourself!

So thats why we've done our own competition! Where you can win a signed copy of his new Album! All ya gotta do is answer an immensely simple question...Details are HERE so get crackin!!

More details coming up on Ty's events, and there's some pretty cool stuff I wanna let you know about, like a Ty Q&A showcase at the British Music Experience, Live gigs and even more competitions.

Kigu crew

Something has taken over me, its big, white, with black stripes and makes me go grrrrrrrrr
Yes, you might not have heard about this new craze thats sweeping the country, most people just look at me with confusion and.....well...confusion but Kigu's are the coolest, most comfortable thing I have ever worn and everyday
since it arrived I have wondered how my life was fulfilled without it.
Now, I'll admit, when my best mate started
goin on about these strange all in one animal suits, the cost of them wasn't that appealing, I mean hey, I already have a handmade lion costume, why spend £40 for a factory made item from Japan BUT then I saw it; 'Limited edition White Tiger' and then all I could think of is of me running around, being the cat like creature that I have always wanted to be, and snuggling at home in the coolest pyjama's possible.....
This whole obsession started because of my best mate, she was so obsessed with these loveable outifts that she organised, for her birthday, a Kigu/Animal Party. This prompted ten other people to invest, including me, and the outifts ranged from Hello Kitty, panda's, kanagaroos, tigers and even Carebears!
The party was the best thing I've been to in ages! I felt sooooo comfortable in my outfit, it was like a sleepover, only wit peeps you didn't know and heavy dubstep blaring out of the livingroom. I even managed a trip into the real world, wandering the streets of Stoke Newington and Clapton, hiding behind trees and pretending to hunt the cars, hilarious! I seriously recommend you try it sometime :-P
And from that night, we became the Hackney Kigu crew!
And there are many more out there doing the same, just check the facebook page. And I bet that once you take a look you'll want one too! If not then hey, its your loss not theirs, maybe when your life feels cold and lonely, you'll remember why. Kidding yeah, life is cold and lonely anyway :-P

So guys, welcome to my world :-P

Coming soon......

....to a store near you.. erm, that'd be us actually...

The multi-talented one known to some as Harky, is busying himself in an undisclosed location preparing new designs for all you lucky people.. His face bathed in the glow of the multitude of diodes & displays that litter his studio, he works relentlessly in complete disregard to his own personal health, neither eating nor sleeping. He is said only to emerge every fifth day, muttering incomprehensibles about evil vegetables and other oddities......

If you're gonna do the 80's.......

Words by Paul Aston

So we've finally hit 88mph. The Delorean has left its burning tracks and where are we? The 80's. The goddamn 1980's. Like mirror image Star Trek movies, everyone knows that the only good decades are the odd ones.

"But it's retro" I hear you cry, and so it is. "It's cool, just look at the colours", that too is true. There really are the colours. All the colours of the neon artists bin. I think you're missing the point.

Look at the last great retro revival, the 70's. It kicked off in the 90's when, like the 70's there was a new kind of dance music and new drugs sweeping the nation. That was good, we were riding the wave of chemicals and beats and were looking for a little guidance. The 70's provided that with a loose attitude to sexual morals, a love of booty shaking and no small amount of wicked visuals. It was, as the Dame said, a case of history repeating itself.

So what do we have now that warrants such a fascination with a decade that paradoxically birthed both the businessman and the bankrupt? Is it the culture? Is it the prolific amount of cheap cocaine? Or, like that bad old times? is it that we are so culturally bankrupt we're looking to the US for our cool? And this is the thing, the US is leading the way in comics, movies and TV. Especially TV. If you think about it, the only must watch things, the only things that set you apart from your fiends are the cool shows from the US that you found first. It's the modern day equivalent of the dad who goes to the states on business and brings back a pair of Nike Air Jordan Trannyfuckers for his kid, six months before everyone else gets them.

But, if you want to be trip down memory lane, take a Strawberry double dip, take a Purple Ohm. Wear your baggiest pants, cut your hair into a big fat bowl and get nicely toasted. You see, mercifully, the 80's produced the best thing ever, the so called Second Summer of Love. A time of ground breaking musical and cultural convergence, both indy kids and ravers would find themselves in a field, loved up and creating a scene that so scared the government they passed laws to try and stop it. THAT was proper retro, take the idea of free love and drugs and do it with the street smarts of the new generation.

You see, I'm not just writing this because of the visceral urge I feel to disembowel the 19 year old Nathan in the Frankie Says t-shirt down Brick Lane. I'm writing this because I was fucking there, and I don't want to go back.

You're so close, and if you want to do the 80's. Do them goddamn right.
